Different web browsers display the same code differently, so all designs
and scripts are tested for compatability with the five most common web browsers: FireFox, Internet Explorer (5.5, 6, 7, 8), Chrome, Safari, and Opera. Why are they different?

Browser applications established during the evolution of the Web contain
OLD segments of code. Because updating these segments implies a major re-write, standards have not been enforced. As you can see, every major browser displays the SAME PAGE differently, with subtle and not-so-subtle differences:
